Aviara is Dr. Katherine Ahn’s vision. It has been her lifelong aspiration to create an interdisciplinary center that leads the way in comprehensive sleep, TMJ, orthodontic, and whole-body wellness. She has stayed at the forefront of dentistry by learning about the relationship these aspects play in her patients’ lives. Dr. Ahn routinely completes mini-residencies and advanced comprehensive programs annually to ensure her patients always receive the best care—and smiles—possible. Her particular focus is on jaw development and healthy airway support starting proper development as early as possible, because she believes that guiding young smiles helps achieve the happiest and brightest outcomes.

Holistic Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Marshall Chey is a board-certified pediatric dentist with more than 15 years of experience and a lifelong dedication to children’s health. He earned his undergraduate degree in Psychobiology from UCLA, his Doctor of Dental Surgery at Columbia University, and completed specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at NYU. He later earned an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. Motivated by his own diagnosis of sleep apnea, Dr. Marshall emphasizes prevention and integrative oral and airway care to support lifelong wellness. A father of two boys, Max and Marty, he is passionate about early airway development and root-cause treatment. Outside the clinic, he enjoys snowboarding, traveling with his family, and volunteering on international dental mission trips. He is also licensed to practice dentistry in Albania, where he has provided free care to underserved children.

SOT (Sacro Occipital Technique) & Cranial Therapy

Dr. Jeffrey Rockenmacher is a seasoned chiropractor with over 40 years of experience, serving the Los Alamitos community since 1984. A graduate of Cleveland Chiropractic College, Dr. Rockenmacher takes a whole-body, root-cause approach to care, focusing on identifying and correcting underlying imbalances that contribute to pain and dysfunction. He utilizes a wide range of advanced chiropractic and rehabilitative techniques, including diversified adjustments, applied kinesiology, soft tissue therapy, and functional medicine principles, to support optimal alignment, mobility, and overall wellness. At Aviara, he collaborates within an integrative care model to help patients improve function, reduce pain, and achieve long-term health through personalized, comprehensive treatment.

Airway, Lifestyle, & Aesthetics

Christina Jasmer is Aviara’s Patient Navigator for Integrative Care. She welcomes new patients, listens carefully, and guides them through Aviara’s whole-person approach—helping each person feel at ease during breathing assessments, home sleep studies, and follow-up visits while coordinating care with Aviara’s interdisciplinary team. A board-certified Physician Assistant with more than 13 years of experience, Christina combines clinical expertise with warmth. Her background spans aesthetics, regenerative medicine, telehealth, and geriatric care. She is a master injector and a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, currently pursuing certification with the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. Christina holds a Master of Clinical Medical Science from Barry University and a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences from Florida International University. Fluent in English and Spanish and licensed in California, she enriches patient care with a deep interest in drawing, Japanese culture, and energy-based healing, reflecting her belief in the mind-body connection.

Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy

A native Californian, Paula Torres began a rewarding career, culminating 37 years, as a Registered Dental Hygienist where she continues to pursue her passion by helping patients achieve excellent oral health and confident smiles. Paula’s many years of experience within clinical practices has spurred her desire to move beyond preventive hygiene and oral alignment, to help address the importance of an interdisciplinary approach, working hand-in-hand with like minded, airway oriented professionals to get the best outcomes for her clients' health by integrating Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy. With her new skillset, she focuses on the functions of the orofacial muscles and Obstructive Sleep Apnea to help improve overall wellness. Paula Torres joined the Aviara Team of Professionals in June, 2020 and has already become a valuable and delightful addition.

Director of Operations and Financial & IT Management

James Shin is a technology manager and business administrator with over 20 years of experience in the healthcare field. He is passionate about helping businesses grow by supporting all aspects of operations, from business finance and budgeting to IT management, graphic design, and provider support. With a thoughtful, dependable, and hands-on approach, James helps create efficient systems, strengthen team performance, and implement strategies that support long-term growth. Known for working independently with minimal direction, he enjoys turning ideas into action—whether through launching new technology solutions, improving workflows, managing teams, or guiding special projects from concept to successful completion. Outside of work, James enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two children. His personal interests include tennis, cooking, and photography.

Director of HR

Nilda is the Director of Human Resources at Aviara Centers, with more than 18 years of experience in the dental field. She is passionate about creating a welcoming, organized, and supportive environment where team members feel valued and connected.
She takes pride in building strong relationships, fostering a positive workplace culture, and supporting a team committed to excellence. What she values most about Aviara Centers is its family-like atmosphere and dedication to high-quality care.
Outside of work, Nilda enjoys spending time with her family and visiting the beautiful beaches of Orange County.

Dental Manager & Treatment Coordinator

Cynthia is Aviara’s Dental Manager and has been an integral part of the practice for nearly five years, with over seven years of experience in dentistry. She is certified in infection control and holds her dental radiography license through the Orange County Dental Institute.
Known for her calm presence and attention to detail, Cynthia is dedicated to helping patients feel comfortable, informed, and confident throughout their care. She takes pride in guiding patients through their treatment options and ensuring each experience is supportive and personalized.
Outside the office, Cynthia enjoys spending time with family and friends and expresses her creativity as a makeup artist. Her daily essential: a sweet coffee in hand.

Dental Assistant

Katrina is a certified dental assistant at Aviara Centers specializing in orthodontics and currently expanding her training in myofunctional dentistry. She earned her Associate of Arts in Dental Assisting and orthodontic certification from Cerritos College and has been working in dentistry for nearly two years. Katrina is passionate about supporting patients throughout their smile journey and loves seeing their health improve while their confidence grows. Outside of work, she enjoys fitness, beach walks, trying new restaurants and recipes, and exploring new activities.
